Tucson

Last weekend for a slightly delayed Valentines Celebration we spent a couple nights in Tucson. I had some hotel points we used to stay at a fancy hotel. It was a nice place, but I felt they tried to make you pay extra for everything. For example if you wanted to connect to the Internet it was $12.95 a day. Maybe if you are rich and stay at fancy places like that all the time you don't care about paying extra, but for me I thought that was a little excessive.

Even though it rained and snowed Friday night when we drove down the weather cleared up and we had a good time. We visited the Center for Creative Photography on the University of Arizona campus. Both Michelle and I really enjoyed the exhibit. I learned that if you see an old photo that looks a little fuzzy and out of focus that it is not just because it is old, but it is part of the Pictoralist style and supposed to be that way!

We also went to the Tuscon Gem show which I learned is the largest rock and gem show in the country. It was really interesting visiting the different booths and seeing all the rocks, gems, and jewelry. I know Michelle found a few things she wouldn't mind having!

The last place we visited was the Titan Missile Museum. I really enjoyed the tour of the missile silo. It was interesting to be reminded about the cold war and how MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) kept the peace at that time.

Introducing....

Becky's Christmas Video! Last night I finally remembered to have Jeff look at the video of Becky from Christmas and see if he could turn it...I sure couldn't figure out how! Because Jeff is some sort of magical genius, you can now watch Becky right side up. The video seems to be a little "rougher" because of the change, so we apologize for that :)

In a preemptive strike, I am going to concede that each woman who reads this blog may think that their husband has the cutest buns...I am willing to share that glorious title because I love you all, so don't send me nasty e-mails :)

I guess I have been tagged!

Michelle tagged me in a not too subtle way to make me post something. So now you all get to read seven random things. I am not sure what makes a random thing random. Does it mean something "off the wall" or does it just mean that there should be no correlation between the seven things themselves? Since this is my entry I will do what I want. =)

  1. I am 6 foot 2 inches
  2. I like soccer
  3. I have red hair
  4. I live in Mesa, AZ
  5. I am an electrical engineer
  6. I am married to Michelle, and
  7. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

Ok so that is a boring list, but all those items are random so it should count, even though I don't think that is what Michelle had in mind when she tagged me. So out of fairness (or fear) I will now list 7 "off the wall" random things about myself.

  1. I think that it is hard to write good "off the wall" stuff that people will find interesting.
  2. I like to watch American Idol even though it is really a pointless show and I have no musical ability (translation: I am tone deaf).
  3. I really love an In-n-Out hamburger and fries with a strawberry shake! This is one advantage to living in Arizona.
  4. Michelle tells me that I have the cutest buns in the whole world ;).
  5. I like living in a big city. Even though I grew up in the country I find that city life is more my speed. Varoom Varoom!!!
  6. My new favorite board game is Ticket to Ride Europe ... at least this week. My favorite Wii game is Mario and Sonic Olympic Games, although, it is hard to beat a good game of Wii Bowling!
  7. Michelle and I are going bike riding tomorrow, after I fix the bikes that is. (This is another nice thing about living in Arizona -- 70's in February!!!!)

Ok so now that I made two list no one should feel the need to ever tag me again! I guess I should tag some people now: Brian, Kevin, and Becky you have been tagged (and anyone else that wants to be...I don't want to leave someone out!!!).

Changing your mind

Well, in an effort to give my brain a rest, I am going to post something before I get started studying for my next big test. I haven't heard anything fancy from other students, but one of my professor's did say something the other day that I have been pondering.

**Warning** There is some political content to follow!

As I have said before, I'm not much into polotics, but one of my professor's has a lot to say on the subject--interesting since it has absolutly no bearing on the subject he teaches (Speech Science). Anyway, the other day he was gripping because people were against candidates that have changed their minds. He then went on to try to convince us that this was idiotic (his word, not mine!) In his mind, a person has the right to change their mind as new information becomes available. (he also thinks that they should everytime...) I had honestly never thought of this! As I have pondered this, I have wondered why not. I think it is because the media and other candidates always say it as though it is a bad thing. I don't know if I have a weak brain and just believe everything that someone says to me, but I think that my Prof has it, at least mostly, right. We should all be on the look out for new information, so that we make good decisions. I think that the information may not change your mind, and that's ok too, as long as you aren't just being stubborn about it :)

So, in a nutshell: Go out, get smarter, change your mind, change the world (for the better!)

Note: this isn't spell checked because blogger is having issues, so forgive any errors!

Happy February!

I thought that today I would post a couple of pictures that we took over the Christmas break. They are only of Jeff and I, but I figured that's ok. I have had to look for some pictures of us for a couple of different things and found a couple of problems. One, we don't have very many pictures of the two of us togehter, one of us is usually taking the picture, and two, the pictures that we have that have us both in them are really old! So on Christmas eve we set up our camera and took a few. There are several more, but we figure a few will satiate the curiosity of most :)

For those of you still waiting for a video of Becky from Christmas...I am still working on it. I keep forgetting to have Jeff look at it. I will try really hard to get him to look at it this week--yes week. He is going snowboarding with the Scouts this weekend, so there are lots of things to be done tonight and he will be gone really early tomorrow until really late. So! Here are the pictures:
